Dear festival participants,
On behalf of the Board of Directors, it is our honor to host the 5th Annual International Children’s Music Festival, to be held in Salt Lake City, Utah from August 4th – 10th, 2008.
The One Voice Children’s Choir was inspired in part by Masa Fukuda, our current director and composer. From a very young age, Masa discovered a great love for music. During his childhood, he found many opportunities to share his compositions through both education and media. His talent brought him to the |

United States,where he continued to study and perfect his musical abilities.
In 2000, Masa composed several pieces of music and gathered over 1600 local Elementary school children to help record the CD, The Power Within. As the 2002 Winter Olympics grew near, one of the songs from their CD, “It Just Takes Love”, was chosen as part of the Official 2002 Winter Olympic CD, and the

group became known as the 2002 Winter Olympic Children’s Choir. As this once-in-a-lifetime experience came to an end, many of the children wished to continue the choir. They formed the One Voice Children’s Choir, which has been kept alive by their love of music.
Many of the children currently participating in One Voice havehad the opportunity to travel to Japan three times. On these tours, the children have had wonderful experiences and achieved great things such as winning the grand prize at the John Lennon Dream Power Music Contest of 2003, meeting Yoko Ono, and performing at the annual Flower Festival in Hiroshima. More importantly, these children have made wonderful and |
enduring friendships with people from different countries, cultures and backgrounds.
Through their experiences in this choir, the children have grown to understand the importance of love, trust, honesty, charity, hope, family and friendship. These values have opened their eyes to other cultures and created memorable friendships across the world. Through their travels and associations, they have gained an appreciation of their own abilities, and found a love of music within themselves. They have expanded their personal music education and have come to understand the uplifting power of music.
The One Voice Children’s Choir, along with the local community, welcomes you to participate in music workshops, cultural activities, and performances of all sizes. We are looking forward to a wonderful and fun-filled festival.
